Her Journey Home.......
Veralene Thrower Brown was born on March 3, 1934 in Camden, Arkansas. She was one of the daughters born to Ida B. and T.D. Thrower.
She attended Ouachita County High School where she displayed her skills as an outstanding basketball player. She grew up to be a beautiful and sweet young lady. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Lawrence Brown, Jr. on January 17, 1972.
She united with First Missionary Baptist Church in Bearden, Arkansas at an early age. She served faithfully as a finance officer and on the kitchen committee. She always remained active on her post until her health started to decline.
Sister Brown was very passionate about her love for Christ and would share His word with anyone. Her charm, wisdom, funny personality, and smile would set enlightenment at any given moment.
She devoted much of her time serving her community as an employee for Community Action Agency in Camden, Arkansas for several years. She loved studying the word of God, being in the company of her family, fishing, sewing and working cross word puzzles. She was an excellent cook. Her home was often the center of family get-togethers filled with love, laughter and plenty of food.
Surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers she passed from this life on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at her home in Bearden, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her children, Brenetta Thrower and Zeldalene Thrower; three grandchildren, Shannondor Thrower, Tevin Thrower, and Paris Jackson; her siblings, Anna B. (Mae Dean) Matlock, Viola Charles, Iola Thrower and Paul Thrower.
She leaves to cherish her husband, Lawrence Brown, Jr.; five children: Jeanette Rogers, Bundra Thrower, Kenneth Thrower (Letetia) Thrower, Cedric Thrower and Rudelle Thrower; her siblings, Ida J. Hudson, Charlotte M. (Mary Helen) Woods all of Bearden, Billie F. Clark of Milwaukee WI and Mildred Jackson of Camden, Thomas Thrower (Perlene) Thrower and Curtis Thrower (Pauline) Thrower all of Bearden; 27 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, Micah Davis. She also leaves a special aunt, Lucille Davis of Little Rock, AR; a special friend, Mary Frances Bradford, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Public visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 5 :00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren. Due to the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic and the directives from the Governor's Office State of Arkansas please do not linger. Please pay your respects and leave so others may have the chance to enter the funeral home. A Celebration of her life will at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Moss Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home Van Buren in Camden, Arkansas with Moderator Vernon Thompson, officiating and eulogist.
Active Pallbearers will be Adrian Thrower, Bryant Thrower, Cedric Jr. Thrower, Dennis Juniel, Josh Thrower, Kenny Thrower, Kentrell Caldwell, LaKita Henderson, Stedmon Thrower and Xavier Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bundra Thrower, Cedric Thrower, Curtis Thrower, Kenneth Thrower, Rudell Thrower, Thomas Thrower, William McElroy and the deacons of First Missionary Baptist Church.
