On May 23, 1966, God blessed Linny Ray and Carolyn Delois Edwards Oakley with a baby boy. They named him Vladimir Devona Oakley. Vladimir is the paternal grandson of Leonard Lee and Lois Nadine Brandon Oakley. The paternal great grandson of Tom and Pearl Oakley. He is the maternal grandson of Calvin and Mary Magdaline Williams Edwards. The maternal great grandson of William “Bumble Bee” Williams and Burlie Nails Polk; Josephus and Hattie Willingham Edwards. All grandparents and great grandparents are deceased. Vladimir was born at Little Rock Air Force base in Jacksonville, AR. He attended military schools at Yokota Air Base in Japan, Travis Air Force Base in California, Torrejan de’ Ardoz in Spain, and graduated from Atwater High School in California. After high school, Vladimir followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the United States Air Force. He enjoyed music from being and outstanding percussionist in the high school band. He also enjoyed cooking. He was a kindhearted person with a compassionate humble spirit. He never met a stranger. He looked forward to family reunions because he loved his family. Being from a large family, Vladimir leaves loving, beautiful memories to be shared with his parents, sister Cherry Blossom and two nieces; Nora Simone Flamer and Nyla Naomi Flamer, Trenton, NJ; brothers Xavier Pierre Oakley, Beltsville, MD; and Zenas Trevor Oakley, Conway, AR. Lennett Oakley, Rockford, IL; Charlie Lee (Diane) Oakley, Detroit, MI; Lemuel Lamar (Vanessa) Oakley, Hot Springs, AR; Lucretia Oakley, Ypsilanti, MI; Luvenia (EJ) Parham, Rockford, IL; Lewellyn (George)Monea′, Ypsilanti, MI; Aunt Berline B. Headen, Beltsville, MD; Larry (Laddy) Edwards, Sr., Benton Harbor, MI; Mary Guillery, Lake Charles, LA; Barbara Ann Johnson, Camden, AR; Brenda Edwards and Marilyn Sue Edwards, Detroit, MI; Dr. Burlie (Michael) Hanson, DeSoto, TX; Sharilyn Edwards, Sherman Oaks, CA; Mary Scott, Camden, AR; Linda Faye “Bumble Bee” Williams, Little Rock, AR. A whole bunch of cousins, prayer warriors Katherine Oakley (ex-wife); Landsdale, PA; Co-workers Sheryl Clark, Fredrickburg, VA; Bretta and Taylor Barreta, Alexandria, VA and friends. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren in Camden. Services will be held graveside at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Memorial Park in Camden, Arkansas with Military Honors.
