Kason Keith Porter

November 12, 2001 — August 26, 2020

As we retrace the footprints of Kason Keith Porter, we can only give thanks for the many lives he enriched along life’s journey. A strong, and quite young man, he was blessed to enjoy many of God’s blessings as a son, a brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle and trusted friend.

On November 12, 2001, Michael and Constance Matlock Porter welcomed the birth of a bouncing bright bubble of joy who they named Kason Keith Porter. From the beginning they knew he would grow up to be a very active and talented kid.

Kason was a life-long member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Mtn. Pine, Arkansas where he often played the likeness in Jesus in Easter plays. He was a recent 2020 graduate of Mountain Pine High School where he excelled; not only as an athlete, but as a student as well. He was a member of the basketball team and the football team wearing the #7 jersey like his brother Tyson had previously worn. He worked as a short order cook at Sonic and proved to be an independent young adult.

His most notable and recent accomplishment was moving to Russellville to be closer to Tyson and enroll at Arkansas Tech University. His goal and dream in life was to practice accounting. He hardly ever met a stranger and always showed himself to be friendly. Kason had a warm smile that would chase the chill from any room. Although he was of few words, he had a big heart.

Kason was that cool, laid-back friend who was in tune with the latest trends and fashions. He enjoyed listening to rap music and fishing. He would spend countless hours gaming, but his greatest times were spent hanging with his older brother, Dewayne.

During all of his eighteen seasons, he made friends across race, gender, and faith. On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, in his 18th season of life Kason passed from time into eternity.

He was preceded in passing by his grandfathers, Keith Porter and Ray Matlock, Sr., his grandmother, Patricia Barr and brother, Tyson D. Stewart.

He leaves his parents, Constance and Michael Porter of Hot Springs; his niece, Kadence “Queen” Miller, one sister, LaKisha McNamara of Little Rock; a niece, Madelyn McNamamra and one brother, DeWayne Matlock of Mtn. Pine; his grandparents, Johnny & Connie Lacy of Mtn. Pine; his aunt, Felecia N. Lacy of Little Rock; uncles, Ray Matlock, Jr., of Mtn. Pine and Daniel (Elizabeth) Porter of Mtn. Pine. He also leaves a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

Pallbearers will be Dafavioun Haywood, Zachary Barnett, Colby Strom, Josh Zamudio, Taylor Muse, Jessie Vasquez, Shannon Thomas, Jeremiah Walker, Collin Smith, Cobra Barnett, Jace Chacon, Chance Godwin, Kayden Anzaldua and Kai Moore.
